What is it to be English, under the weight of our long history and our mercurial relations with Europe?
By award winning writer Mike Bartlett (Dr Foster, A Woman Scorned, King Charles III) Albion premiered at The Almeida Theatre and was written during the anxious pause for breath after the fateful Referendum.
Five years on the play’s power is no less significant, resonating deeply in a country that has been torn by very different divisions during the shocks of the last 2 years. Albion explores the fragility of human relationships and how we all just ‘carry on’, as one woman searches for hope in the garden of her dreams.
Poignant and moving, with flashes of Bartlett’s wryly observed humour this is a play that will stay with you long after the curtain comes down.
