A SELL OUT production performed in the Music Room at Hatchlands Park in celebration of the legacy of Fanny Boscawen, wife of the first owner of Hatchlands Park and a founding member of the original Bluestockings society. Jessica Swale’s acclaimed play tells the true story of the battle fought by women to be permitted to graduate from Girton College, Cambridge. Set during a tumultuous academic year from 1896 – 97, the play follows feisty Tess Moffat and her fellow students as they join the vanguard of women’s education, dancing the can can, riding bicycles and falling in love. At a time when women and girls in some parts of the world still struggle to get access to education, this is a play that speaks to today.
The production was awarded a NODA drama accolade of Excellence and was runner up in the award category for best Regional Drama
