The Mayor of Guildford's Charity Show

 20 March 2008

Guildburys is one of Surrey's foremost amateur theatre companies and we were delighted to be invited by The Mayor of Guildford, to perform The Government Inspector at the Electric Theatre in aid of his chosen charity, the Halow Project.

In the company newsletter, Ian Nichols (Guildbury chairman) wrote :

' Thanks to all Guildburys who contributed to The Government Inspector at its final special performance. The Halow Project informs us that our evening alone raised over £1,100 for the charity. Our work was appreciated by Guildford’s ebullient Mayor, Mike Nevins. He seemed to take Gogol’s satire on a Russian Mayor and council in good part and a total of eight Mayors, past and present were at the performance and the Chain Gang (apparently the collective noun for such a gathering) showed their enthusiasm loudly. A great success for the Mayor,  the charity  and for Guildburys.
