GREAT EXPECTATIONS
Dickens’ classic and best loved masterpiece is brought to the stage.

The tale of the orphaned Pip and his attempts to become a gentleman is populated with memorable characters: the threatening convict Magwitch, the eccentric Miss Havisham, the haughty Estella, the bubbling Herbert Pocket….. a host of personalities in Dickens’ inimitable mix of the comic and the tragic. This adaptation was written by Nick Ormerod and Declan Donnellan, founders of the acclaimed Cheek by Jowl Theatre Company, and performed by the RSC in 2005. Here the play is directed by Ian Nichols amongst whose previous productions for Guildburys at the Electric Theatre have been Frankenstein, Vanity Fair and The Government Inspector.
We have great expectations that this will be one of the highlights of the Guildbury calendar and will make a splendid opening for the festive season.
